What to Expect at the First Appointment

You can expect a full dental evaluation on your first visit.

Dr. Lucinda Garcia believes that the comfort and convenience of our patients is paramount. We do our best to keep all services in-house and bring in specialists for more complex procedures, so you don’t have to travel far to receive the treatment you need.

On your first visit, you will be welcomed warmly. After a thorough cleaning, we perform a detailed exam to gauge the wellness of your teeth. Our practice is equipped with intraoral cameras, small pen-sized devices that allow us a clear view of every area of your mouth.

We also take images of your teeth using our panoramic X-ray machine. This technology captures a comprehensive view of the mouth quickly and efficiently, and also uses a lower dose of radiation than traditional dental X-rays. Combining these two techniques gives us the best indication of your dental health, so that we can spot and address potential problems before they become severe.

Parmer Lane Family Dentistry is dedicated to protecting healthy smiles in North Austin. We keep up-to-date with the latest data and techniques to provide you with the best dental care possible. Dr. Garcia and her skilled staff make every effort to ensure that your dental needs are met with gentleness and care.

Call our office today for exceptional modern dental treatment that focuses on your needs. We look forward to meeting you.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings blend in seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.

Tooth-colored fillings are a great option for patients who want to maintain a natural look that blends in with the rest of their teeth.

Standard dental fillings are made of gold, silver, or amalgam and can be difficult to match to other teeth in your mouth. Tooth-colored fillings blend in seamlessly with the surrounding teeth, giving you an even smile while also protecting sensitive tooth surfaces from decay.

These fillings are often more durable than traditional silver fillings because they don’t contain any metal components that could break off over time and require additional treatment, like replacement or removal. In addition, tooth-colored fillings are easy to repair if they do become damaged—just another way our team at Parmer Lane Family Dentistry can help you extend the life of your smile!

Our comprehensive approach means exceptional cosmetic dentistry for the whole family.

Stunning Results

We care for the whole person through our dental work. Smile bright, Austin! We’ve got you.

LONG-TERM FAMILY-ORIENTED DENTISTRY

Our goal is long-term relationships with the whole family. We build trust by inviting you to partner in your care.

Pulp Therapy

We can save your tooth from extraction with a root canal.

Inside your teeth, there's a delicate and sensitive substance known as pulp. If you have advanced tooth decay, it may go beyond your enamel and erode through the outer layers of your teeth, affecting the pulp within.

A root canal involves the removal of the inflamed or infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the space, then refilling and sealing it to prevent further damage. This is a tooth-saving treatment that will relieve tooth pain caused by infection.

Without this treatment, infected tooth pulp could lead to tooth loss. While your dentist can place a dental implant or bridge in its place, nothing completely mimics the appearance and function of your natural teeth. A root canal is often what stands between advanced decay and tooth loss.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown looks and performs just like your natural tooth.

Used to restore your damaged tooth to its original strength and shape, a dental crown is the perfect solution for a tooth that is too decayed for a filling, a broken or fractured tooth, or a tooth that has had root canal work done. We use several excellent crown materials that can make your new tooth durable and beautiful, including zirconia, porcelain, and gold. Porcelain is the most popular material because it so closely matches your natural tooth color.

When your tooth needs dental work that requires a crown, it’s a two-step process. At your first visit, we’ll evaluate the damage to your tooth and do any preliminary work, such as a root canal or removal of decay. Then, we’ll use our iTero scanner to get a highly detailed model of your tooth and mouth, so you won’t have to put up with any old-fashioned goop to get a dental impression. Finally, we’ll place a temporary crown so you won’t have any trouble chewing or going about your normal activities until your new tooth arrives.

Once we have you all set up, we’ll send the iTero’s 3D image of your teeth off to a specialized lab where a crown is milled to look exactly like your natural tooth—or even better. And once the lab sends us the finished crown, we’ll get in touch with you for a follow-up appointment where your new crown will be seated and fitted.

Extractions

When a tooth can’t be saved, an extraction may be the only option—but tooth replacements can restore your smile.

Extractions are a simple and effective way to remove teeth that have become damaged beyond repair.

Extractions are also used to address problematic wisdom teeth. No matter the reason extraction is needed, we will make sure you’re comfortable throughout the entire process. We offer several sedation options, and if you suffer from dental anxiety, be sure to talk to us about that when scheduling your appointment.

Additionally, we offer tooth-loss solutions, such as dental implants and bridges, to preserve your bone and tissue health and restore your tooth’s function.

Sealants and Fluoride

Sealing your teeth helps ensure a long-lasting smile.

Dental sealants are a quick and easy way to protect teeth from cavities. Sealants work by filling in the microscopic gaps where tooth-destroying bacteria can take hold. Sealant material is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, which are most susceptible to decay because they’re exposed every time you eat or drink anything hot or cold. Your dentist will use a tiny brush or spatula to apply this clear plastic coating, which will then be hardened with ultraviolet light.

Shortly after the treatment, you'll be able to enjoy your newly clean and protected teeth!

Sedation Dentistry

Our three choices of sedation will make you feel at ease.

At Parmer Lane Family Dentistry, we know that comfort is one of the biggest factors for patients moving forward with recommended care, and dental anxiety is one of the biggest deterrents.

This is why sedation dentistry is something we offer at our practice.

Sedation dentistry helps people feel more at ease when they come in for dental treatment. In addition to being less anxious about what's happening around them, patients often feel much better afterward. We offer three kinds of sedation dentistry. Which one your dentist will use depends on the patient and procedure.
